Some Final Updates For Our Models
So far, the project is going really well! Some updates had to be made to the models; we were having some issues with the face count on the bust of Josephine Butler.
When the model was made, we needed to reduce the face count to make the model not as huge in terms of data. Part of the problem was the amount of detail that was lost in that process.
Having said that, the textures that we were trying to use were affected by the number of faces, even after the reduction. This would make the textures look more pixelated. We decided the best thing would be to make the bust a solid color.
We are planning to use an occlusion map to give the models shadows. I have to currently update the model to have a different texture on one button. I also changed the midsection of the podium that the bust sits on, so it's wood instead of marble. In response, I made the midsection a solid cylinder, replacing the rigged column.
Our group also needed the stage and Podium, for the video of Josephine Butler, needed to be separated so we could adjust the size and position in response to the size of the video. That gave me the opportunity to make the Racks that hold up the stage look more metallic than the original. Currently, I am waiting to hear back from Hoverlay on the best course to apply an occlusion map.
