This is another image from the opening slideshow on my website. I made this one in New York in 2010. I have no name for this image but I jokingly refer to it as the Hipster Flea Market, because I shot this at the fleamarket that happens weekly (or maybe more often? Or less? I cannot remember now) at the Williamsburgh Savings Bank. I have been regularly visiting NYC, and particularly Brooklyn, for years now. I have watched the city undergo incredible change. At the point when this image was made, hipsters, whose birth place I truly feel is Williamsburg, were a relatively new thing. Before that I think Williamsburg's major claim to fame was it being the setting of the excellent book "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn". Nowadays as New York City suffers from becoming "a city for the rich" (as a good friend of mine calls it) the images I made during this particular trip mean a lot to me because they capture the city just as all of that was really beginning to take shape.
