This #dailysketchext is called The Dance and it is formed of a mix of things in my brain right now. I just recently saw Memoirs of a Geisha for the first time, which had superb art direction/production design in it. In fact, it was the best part of the film. A good example of this (if you haven't seen the movie) is the snow dance scene she does in the movie, if you want you can just google that and feast your eyes. This sketch is partially inspired by that but also by all the thinking I've been doing today. Today is FW Day and Simon and I had some deep conversation that is occupying my mind... You know, we all sort of do a dance. We have to perform, to juggle responsibilities, to look good while we are perhaps very unsure of ourselves or what we are doing. When we are children and insecure, we look up to our parents to see their faces and decipher if they are pleased with us and what we are doing is okay or not (and it's also to check if they are still there watching us). Even if the parents may be awful, this is just a natural tendency and it is what kids do. Sometimes you just need someone bigger than you to tell you that what you are doing is great and to just keep going.
