Here I want to show you a little bit about what is going on behind the camera, because even though the images can be wonderful, the process of getting there should also be so. The images in this slide show are from a photo shoot that was an editorial assignment and I was working with journalist Austen Marshell.
In this editorial assignment, my challenge was not only to create the images for the band, but also to coordinate the entire photo session. I had to arrange for the studio space and time, and I also coordinated this with the schedules of the journalist, myself, and the band and their manager. I also had to secure a makeup artist, a first assistant, a second assistant (who also shot the "behind the scenes" images), and some kind of entertainment to keep other band members focused and happy while I shot the individual portraits of the band. It was a very pleasurable and satisfying experience for me to be able to coordinate all of that successfully.
Model releases and property releases were all acquired easily, the shoot went smoothly, even when little hiccups occurred (for instance, the original second shooter bailed at the last minute and the second assistant then stepped up to the plate, even though he already had things to do, I love that; also we had a minor equipment malfunction at a key moment, but the assistants and myself just pulled together and quickly resolved it and moved on).
At the end of the shoot, we all sat around at the table, enjoying some refreshments. I was going to ask everyone how the day was for them, but before I could even bring it up, I was complimented by some very genuine thank yous for the great experience- not only from the band, but also the makeup artist, the assistants, and the journalist!

Most small businesses face the challenge of creating visuals (photography, videos, etc.) for their websites, social media, and print advertisements on a low budget. Many cannot afford the long term services of a professional photographer, creative director, or a director of photography, but need guidance on how to create, organize, and set up a system for the photography that they need on their websites, social media, and in print.
While the services of a professional to create and manage your images is best, consulting with a professional is an affordable alternative solution for those on a tight budget. Alexis Evanoff is available for consulting work for businesses and even other photography studios, to help them manage their photography challenges.
We help businesses:
- Learn how to create the best images they can for themselves with the equipment they have (you will learn to put your best foot forward and even have fun doing it!)
- Organize and get the most out of the photography that they already have (this is great for photography studios!)
- Learn how to use photography in their social media (get your page more followers and fans!)
- Avoid sticky legal situations that happen involving photography (this is a much bigger problem than you might think!)
- Learn how to use photography on their websites in the most effective way (this causes a 30% jump or more of page views on your website!)
- Learn how to use photography in their print advertising in the most effective way (do you know what the seven best eye-grabbing image subjects are? how big the photo space should be to get 50% more eyeballs on your ads? I can help with this!)
- Establish good workflow and archiving/backup practices (once you get those images, make sure you keep them and can find them again!)
- Become photographically self-sufficent!
Alexis does over the phone or in person consultations. You can have all of the valuable information above, along with any other aspects of Alexis' expertise, tailor made to you, for a mere $100 an hour.
Please note that consultations are billed in half hours (with a one hour minimum per session) and travel times over 30 minutes are also billed as part of the consultation.

I’m Alexis Evanoff — a filmmaker, visual artist, and educator working at the intersection of cinema, immersive media, and fine art (I'm also a real person who uses em dashes!). My creative foundation is painting and drawing, something I’ve done since childhood, learning directly from my mom, who is also an artist. I built my professional career in the visual arts through commercial photography, and that combination—fine art training plus on set production—still shapes the way I work today.
As the founder of Alexis Evanoff Productions, I write and direct narrative and emerging media projects, including XR/360 and virtual production. I do work across genres, but my throughline is always the same: I find what makes the piece work, and I commit to it fully. My work has been recognized with a SOFIE (The Short Film Awards, Manhattan) — Best Comedy for Level 40 (Wish I Could Be), with an additional nomination for Best Writing, and Shockfest’s Best Film award for Fresh Meat.
I’m currently completing my Cinema & Television Arts degree at Cal State Northridge, specializing in Emerging Media, and I’m a Phi Kappa Phi member. I continue expanding my practice with tools like Unreal Engine and motion capture as part of a modern, hybrid filmmaking workflow.
Alongside film, I still paint and I teach art—something I genuinely love. I work with private students in my studio, helping them build skills, confidence, and a consistent creative practice. I’m also a certified Art Therapy Life Coach (an accredited program through the Transformation Academy). My artwork is exhibited regularly, including at least once a year at San Diego Comic-Con International and other art fairs.
Whether you’re a student looking for focused guidance or a production partner looking for a director with a strong visual voice, I bring the same things to the table: craft, clarity, and a serious commitment to the work.
