So, the other reason I have been less active on Instagram is because I have been busy working on my first line of clothing! (Another thing I’ve been dying to do since I was a kid!) This is part one of a series of leggings/yoga pants/comfortable things to wear that I have designed, featuring the work of various amazing women artists whom you probably have never heard of.
These women did the bulk of their work in the 1700-1800s and some were famous for their time, but on the whole have been neglected by the history books. I have taken their artwork and reworked it to make it fit on pieces of clothing. When you wear it, you are wearing a part of history that is hidden (but to you, at least, no more).
This piece features the work of Margaretha Haverman (active by 1716–stopped painting by 1723) who holds a special place in my heart not only for having been from Amsterdam (one of my favorite cities in the whole world) and not just for being half Danish, but also because her story is one that I think many of us can understand.
Its also a long story so I wont post it all here!
You can see the entire story about Margaretha Haverman on the listing for these leggings/yoga pants/comfortable things to wear on Etsy at my store called Velvet Bohemian or if you sign up for my mailing list on my website on www.alexis.world
I can also send the story to you in my newsletter that is about the latest work I am releasing and its background.
