So, we've had a lot of tragedy in the last year (4 family members died, and other fun things), and through it all with the help of our friends (#shoutouttothebrotherhood #shoutoutothecreator) we have been making it. One of the lessons we learned this year came early on after the death of my beloved father-in-law. My father-in-law was a great appreciator of wine. He even had a wine boutique and would go every year to France to visit the vineyards and taste the wine himself to buy the best for his little shop. Back home he had a rack of particularly excellent bottles that he saved to be opened for some special day. Tragically, after he passed we had discovered that the rack of wine was still stored and unopened... So what I learned is: drink the good wine -- today! Open it and enjoy it because you are alive and enjoy that you are here and that even when it's hard, life is beautiful and still a gift. Have you always wanted to play the guitar, travel to Europe, be a regular pioneer? But you are waiting for some particular special time to do it? DO IT NOW because you are alive now and enjoy it while you can. You don't have to wait for a special day or until you are a better person and then "deserve" to do those things. Do it now Carpe Diem! And so with that I am opening this bottle of 2009 Hitching Post Perfect Set Pinot Noir (it's a big bottle; apartment in the background for scale).
