A #dailysketchext that is a loose interpretation of one of my favorite photos of one of my favorite dancers, Mikhail Baryshnikov. I decided to do this sketch today because one of the things I want to work on is capturing the flow of a body in motion (and still have it look like a body). Ballet dancers are particularly challenging (as are the Coco Rocha poses from the Study of Pose app) to capture correctly and I like them for the way they make my brain work to solve problems. I regret that I ran out of paper edge before his leg was finished. This photo is fabulously graceful and I want a huge copy of it on a wall in my home somewhere.
This was done with a #314 draughting pencil, a cheap #8B, and a rapidly fraying blending stump.
