Check this awesomeness out!!!! We went on a coffee break out in service and we met an illustrator by the name of Shawn David Baker. His work is tight!!! Talk about the ability to capture a moment! This is me and my table sitting drinking our coffee at Lofty Coffee I'm the one on the right ;-)

When one of my friends saw this she said, "You look all snobby (no offence) [sic] the guy in the middle looks like a cool hitman and the other girl looks like she doesn't really want to be there...... Is that a waiter in the background?"

At first I just replied off the cuff, "Yes it is, we were talking to him... No offense taken, and I understand how you could see that. I saw the other illustrations this guy made, though, and I noticed he tends to draw everyone that way. I think he is trying to make people look sophisticated..."

Later, I thought more about what she said and I realized that, really, we all draw the way we see. I see people as beautiful so I tend to draw people as a beauty version of themselves. I think this guy saw the world around him as sophisticated, urban, civilized (or something like that -- these are just the words that came to my head that associate with that feeling). You see, he is the only artist I've ever met who was sitting in a coffee shop sketching wearing a suit, and I didn't see him meet anybody. It just looked like that's the way he does it.
