Many moons ago this #dailysketchext was inspired by a music video by UNKLE and Thom Yorke. I actually found the music video deeply disturbing the first time I saw it because it was about a guy who kept getting run over by cars, and then he'd have to get up and keep going. I found that imagery really tragic and disturbingly sad. The video ends, however, with the guy stripping himself of his coat -- which was supposed to be helping shelter him but it turns out it wasn't -- and then when the last car hits him, the car crunches instead of him, and he is fine. This final imagery was supremely victorious to me, about as equally as the prior images had been disturbing. It stuck with me for a long time. Finally, when I got out of my situation that was supposed to be a shelter (but I kept getting run over), I sketched this in memorandum. I don't want to forget how far I've come. (Incidentally, I hope you don't forget how far you've come either.)
