This #dailysketchext is the first time I ever drew that profile-girl who keeps coming up in my sketches. This is also when I very first began sketching with conte (and I fell in love with it). The girl in this picture was actually one of my friends. She was looking down at something and then had a moment of remembering something and it changed her face. It was only a moment but I was able to capture it because I sketched it pretty quickly. I had been practicing all day with the conte and working very hard to not make "sketchy lines" but rather solid quick lines, which is what made it possible for me to catch this moment. If you can, when you sketch, don't torture yourself about it, but try to work on capturing the outline of something in one quick line. Forgive yourself if you don't get it perfect right away, but try and get yourself to do it (and don't show anyone the first sketches) and it'll really help you to speed up your drawing time and your ability to capture what is happening in the moment.
