Another sketch with acrylic on magazine. This #dailysketchext is from one of those days when I didn't know what to sketch and my usual sources of inspiration were not doing it for me, so I happened to have this book on painter John Singer Sargent (who is one of my favorites--he could really handle a brush) and I decided to paint one of the paintings in the book that I took a liking to. That is actually a really useful kick start to getting the juices flowing. If you don't know what to do, just do a sketch (using charcoal, acrylic, pen, whatever) of a piece that you like from someone else and work through them for a bit til you find your artistic feet. It's ok. It's not like it all hasn't been done before anyway so don't stop yourself before you begin with the pressure to be oh-so-very-original. Your own voice will come when it comes. Have fun in the meantime.
